Welcome to Cottages of Thwaite
Our cottages Foss Garth cottage, East cottage and West cottage,
are in the picturesque village of Thwaite set in the beautiful valley of Swaledale.
Thwaite is a small village of traditional stone built houses at the head of Upper Swaledale.
Thwaite, the place name, is old Norse- it’s name dates from 900AD, “a meeting place of the Vikings” Swaledale is considered by may to be the most beautiful of the Yorkshire Dales.
With our family, having lived/living in Thwaite, we certainly agree.
Offering quality accommodation, spanning over more than 40 years.
Upper Swaledale is particularly striking because of it’s large number of old Traditional Barns and Stone Walls, dotted around it’s landscape and it’s profusion of protected wild flowers (June /July time).
Our family specializes in holiday cottages exclusively in Thwaite, we only have properties in the village itself.
This allows us the time and means to make your experience of holidaying in Thwaite a most memorable, relaxing and enjoyable one. We hope you enjoy your stay.
